Copyright !996 ++++++++Nick's Apartment+++++++ When Detective Nicholas Knight, an almost 800 year old vampire, slid open the heavy, metal door to the elevator of his apartment, he found a bloody mangled mass of body lying on the floor. He hoped it wasn't Urs, another vampire, but he caught a glimpse of the short, blonde, curls that made up her hair and realized it was her. Her arms were twisted around and somewhat under her body that was sprawled across the elevator floor with legs that looked like spaghetti protruding from the mass of flesh that was supposed to be Urs. "Urs? Urs!" Nick crashed to the next to her floor with a 'thump'. He started untangling arms and slowly moved her head to face him. "Mmmmm..." a slightly painful groan came from her as she blinked. " Urs, it's Nick. Wake up. Thank goodness you're alive, I wasn't sure for a moment, there. Are you alright? What happened to you?" He asked. "Hmmmm...Nick?" she tried to say. "I'm here. Let's get you out of this elevator and into my living room." He said as he gingerly lifted her up into his arms and carried her to the black leather sofa, not caring if blood got on it. All he cared about was that Urs was alive. After Nick got her comfortable on the sofa, he went to his fridge to get her a cup of blood to help her get strong enough to heal her wounds. As he tried to hand the cup to her, he realized he would have to help bring it to her lips to drink because she was so weak. After a sip or two, she seemed no better, in fact she seemed worse. Urs was losing her energy and she was dying, a slow and painful death. She didn't have much more time left and Nick had to hurry to find a way to save her if she was going to live through this. "Nick, a little girl...she's a vampire...strong...uuhhmmm..." Urs tried to say. She could barely make a word, let alone a sentence. "Shhh. Urs don't talk. You must save your strength. Urs, I'll be right back. I'm going to call Natalie to see if she can help you." He took her small, delicate hand and patted it before he stood to go call Doctor Natlaie Lambert, a friend of his who knew of his vampirism and was trying to help his get his wish: to become mortal again. She agreed immediately to come help Urs, if she could. "Nat's on her way." He said happily as he made his way back to the sofa where Urs still lay. "Uhmm humm. Thanks, Nick." she said and closed her eyes to rest until until Natalie showed up. End part one Well, I'm finally getting around to posting this. (2/?) +++++(At Vachon's home/church)+++++ Detective Tracy Vetter, Nick's partner, quickly ran down the stairs hoping and praying that Javier Vachon, an almost 500 year old vampire, was alright. From the scream he let out over the phone, he didn't sound alright. "Vachon?", she called out as she entered the large room, "Hello? Vachon? Anyone here?" she was getting scared. Vachon where are you? , she thought to herself. She was about to turn around and leave, then she saw him. He was hudled in a dark corner, clutching is knees to his chest. He appeared to be very frightened, like a child that had just seen a big and scary monster. "Vachon, there you are! Why didn't you answer me when I called out your name? Are you alright?" she demanded as she knelt down in front of him. "Tracy, what are you doing here?" he said in a whisper, long strands of his hair getting in the way of Tracy being able to see his face. "Vachon, you worried me. I had to come here and make sure you were okay." "Tracy..." he sounded as if he was going to cry, if it were possible for him to do, which it wasn't. "It's okay, I'm here now.", she brushed away the strands of hair in his face, that's when she saw the strange claw-like scratches across his cheek, "Vachon, what did this to you?", she gasped. "Why did this happen?" "Tracy, she was so strong, she... she... Tracy..." "Whoa! Calm down, Vachon!", she said as she brought him into a hug, then cradling him in her arms, and rocking him back and forth. "Tracy?" he said. "Shhh...it's okay. You're safe now. And don't worry your wounds will heal.", she wanted so much for him to alright. "Tracy, I'm not healing, I'm dying.", he said with sadness in his eyes, knowing he would die and never see Tracy ever again. "No! Please don't say that! You're not going to die! Fight it whatever it is!", and in a soft whisper even she could barely hear, she added, "Just don't leave me, please." "Tracy, do me a favor, that box, over there. Go to it and and open it." he whispered. She hesitated at first, then she rose up from him and walked over to the box. Vachon watched her every step, her every movement, and how she walked so quietly, the slight click-clack of her shoes making the only sound in the room. Tracy got to the box and opened it and saw the wooden stake. Slaming the box shut, she threw Vachon a nasty glare that said 'Forget it'. "Trace...", he said as he started to get up and walk over to where she stood, leaning on things for support as he walked, "Tracy get the stake, please." She shook her head 'No' as her short blonde locks brushed her neck softly. "Yes, Tracy, get it... NOW!" She jumped at the boom of his vioce. He had never spoke to her like that before. His voice had always been soft, gentle, and kind. She reluctantly pick up the stake and looked it over, seeing how sharp it was. she suddenly got very scared about what he was going to ask her to do. As she turned to face him, she could feel the tears begin to well up, waiting to fall down her perfectly smooth peaches and cream complection cheeks. Vachon fell to his knees, and bared his chest to her, and the area where his heart was. Seeing his bare chest made her remember the time when they first met after the explosion that killed Don Schanke and Captain Amanda Cohen. He had just gotten done using her shower at her apartment. He came out of the bathroom in only his jean pants and his hair was wet and tangled on his head from the shower. "Tracy?" Vachon's voice brought her back the situation she was in, even though she wished so badly she could stay in her thoughts. "Tracy, bury it deep. It has to go right through my heart." She placed the tip of the stake on his chest where his heart was and then turned away from him bowing her head, closing her eyes, and then said to him, "Vachon I can't. Please don't make me do this to you." "You must!" he said in responce, his eyes turned vampiric yellow- green. With a sudden burst of strength, he stood up running at her and the stake she still held in her hands. Well, I'm finally getting around to posting this. With a sudden burst of strength, he stood up running at her and the stake she still held in her hands. Tracy jumped out of Vachon's path and she landed on the floor on her hands and knees. Vachon landed nearby, lying on his side, his back to her. Tracy went to get up and noticed a drop of blood on the floor next to her. Where did that come from? She wondered. More importantly, Who did that come from? The mystery was solved easily when she got a sudden rush of pain in her right fore arm. She looked and found the tip of the stake was bright red and her fore arm, near her wrist, had a somewhat large puncture wound that was bleeding, the bright red blood, dripping off her arm and onto the floor. Throwing the stake far across the room, she crawled over to Javier's side. "Vachon? Are you okay?" she asked and rolled him over to see if he was okay, more importantly, if he was alive. "I'm okay. Kind of." he said as she rolled him onto his back. As Tracy brushed a lock of hair away from his face, a drop of her blood fell onto one of the cuts on his cheek. It healed like magic. Hmmm. I wonder?, she thought. She put her bleeding arm over his mouth. "Drink, Vachon. Go ahead, do it." she said to his questioning eyes. Javier drank a little of her blood and then let her arm go, rolled to his side with his back to her again, and he started to breathe rapidly. Suddenly his breathing stopped. "Vachon? Can you hear me?" she shut up when she saw the cuts on his cheek healed. He turned towards her, breathing again. His eyes had turned yellow-green again. "Vachon... Javier?" she said, while she stroked his newly healed cheek. "Trace?", his eyes still their vampiric color. He blinked once, then twice, and sat up. His eyes had turned back to the soft, deep, dark brown eyes she was used to seeing. "Oh! Javier, you're alive! You're really alive!" She cried, excitedly and grabbing him into the biggest hug she was capable of giving. "Thank you, Tracy, you saved me. I owe you." he was about to give her a kiss and that's when she fainted. Geeze, Trace, thanks for fainting. Can't you stay conscious for once? he thought to himself as he laughed quietly. He checked her arm and saw the blood had mostly clotted and stopped, but he wasn't sure why she had fainted. Javier arrived at Tracy's appartment with her, still unawake, in his arms. Laying her on her bed and putting an afgan over her, he flew off to Nicholas's to ask where Natalie was so she could check Tracy. When Javier entered into Nick's apartment, he saw a frantic Nicholas and Natalie hovered over the sofa. Javier 'whooshed' over to see what was going on. "Urs?! What's going on, Knight?" Vachon demanded. "That girl, Javier." Urs answered for Nick, "She attacked me." "Urs, I know a way to save you." End part 4 Well, I'm finally getting around to posting this. "Please, Javier, let me die... I want to die. Please." "Urs..." he started to say while his face grew into a painful look. "Javier, it's my only way... You had me for over 100 years that I didn't want to have, not that I didn't have a great 120 years, but I've have lived my lifetime to it's fullest... Please let me go... Please." she gasped, begging him. "Okay, Urs. It's the least I can do." "Thank you, Javier, my sweet conquistador." "Say 'hi' to Screed for me. I'll miss you, Urs." Urs nodded in responce. Vachon leaned down and gave her a simple kiss on the forehead as her eyes closed. A small teardrop of blood ran down his cheek and landed on his hand that was stroking Urs's cheek. She's gone, Urs is gone, he thought, well at least she finally got her one and only wish. "Bye, Urs." he then remembered where he was and who was there and he immediatly stiffened up and returned to his old self. "Natalie, I need you to come with me to Tracy's place so we can make sure she's okay." Javier said. "I'll get Urs to The Raven and have LaCroix take care of her body and get her buried." Nicholas said, then adding, "That is, Nat, if you don't mind Vachon taking you... and if that's okay with Vachon." "That's fine with me, if Natalie agrees." Javier said "Yeah, sure." she said. "Fly?" Vachon said, his eyes just giving her a teasing look that said 'Oh, come on'. "Car." she simply said. Natalie was filled in of all the details to what happened to him and Urs, how Tracy's blood saved him from dying, and why Urs wanted to die, on the way to Tracy's apartment. They arrived soon and Vachon said he'd wait, but first he'd run home to get a drink while Natalie checked up on Tracy. When Nat got upstairs to Tracy's door, she found Tracy was already out of bed and drinking her usual cup of coffee. "Well, hi, Nat! How are you?" she exclaimed. "Fine and you?" she said looking oddly at the bandage on Tracy's forearm from where the stake had gotten her. "Just a little cut, really, it's nothing important. Come in." "Thanks. I just thought I'd stop by quickly and see if you were alright. I saw you take off out of the precinct so quickly, I just thought I'd make sure everything was okay." "Don't worry about me everything's fine, really." Tracy said quickly. "Great. Well, then I guess I'll be going. Bye." "Yeah, well, thanks for stopping by. See you later, Nat." Natalie came downstairs and saw Vachon sitting outside on the stairs that lead to the side walk. "She's just fine. In fact, she was up and had a cup of coffee in her hands." "Thanks, Natalie. I'm going to go up and see her. Bye." "Your welcome. Oh, and I'm sorry about what happened to Urs. I know she was special to you. Bye." "Thanks, Natalie." Vachon said then looked to make sure no one was nearby that would see him and also made sure there were no security cameras that would film him as he whooshed to Tracy's door. 'Knock, knock'. Javier knocked on the door a few times. "Vachon, hi! How are you feeling?" she said as she opened the door wide enough to let him in. "I'm fine, your cure worked nicely on me. Are you okay, I mean you didn't quite stay conscious after I healed." he said as he took a seat on one end of the sofa while Tracy went to get a cup of coffee for herself. "Oh, yeah. Sorry about that, Vachon, but you know I can't handle the sight of blood and you healing was kinda new for me. I'd offer you something to drink, but I don't have anything to your usual liking.", she said then adding with a teasing smile," And you've already had a drink from me, so don't even ask for that." "No problem, I've already had my dinner anyways, but thanks for the thought." he said trying to return the smile. Tracy sat down on the sofa at the other end and looked at Javier with a questioning look in her eyes. "Javier, what's wrong?" "Why do you ask?" he asked when he realized she was talking to him. "You look like you're in another world. Is something wrong?" 'Blink, blink.' His usual reponse when he didn't want to answer a question he'd been asked. "Forgret I asked." Tracy said, a little peeved. She then started to stare at him, her usually bright blue eyes were cloudy and had a worried look in them. She was making mental notes and checking him over. She couldn't believe he had almost died again and that she had saved him. "What are you doing?" he said when he sensed she was staring at his face, her eyes locked on his. "Uh... what did you say?" she said blinking away the stare. "You were staring at me. Why?" "You look upset. I just want to help, that is, if I can help. You know you can tell me anything, Vachon." "I know, I just don't want to talk about it." She look at him sadly and kind of relieved at the same time since she wouldn't know what to say. She had a feeling it had to do with his past, and he hated to talk about certain past things. "Now what are you spacing about?" he asked getting kind of annoyed by her prying. He hated talking about certain parts of his past. "You don't have to be so crabby and bite my head off. All I was doing was just remembering what happened earlier tonight. I was afraid I was going to really lose you, for forever. I already had to go through that once, when you had that fever that killed Screed, and I didn't want to go through losing you again. It was just to much to handle." she said looking into her cup of coffee and tracing the rim of the mug with her index finger. "Hey, I'm sorry, Trace." he said as he scooted across the couch and hugged her seeing she looked like she was about to cry, "You'll never lose me, I promise. I'll always be here for you." he said. "I know, but it's scary. It was to close for comfort, too real and that's what scares me. I did mean to pry about everything. I'm sorry. I'm getting tired. Uh, what time is it, Vachon?" "Oh, um, it's about 2:20, sunrise won't be for awhile, but I need to go somewhere before I get home. And you can use some sleep after everything you went through. So, I'll see you later, Trace." he stood up and leaned down kissing her on the forehead, "Bye." "Yeah, bye... Javier, call me when you get home, please." "I will." He said and left. "Hello, there. About time you got home, I hate to have to wait." she said in a cold, evil voice. "Hello, and how did you get in here young lady?" Nicholas questioned the young girl that stood in front of him, partially in the shadows cast from the lights that were on in the kitchen. "Oh, but I'm not that young, actually I'm quite older than you, Nicholas." "Divia, what do you want?" "Ah, even better, Father must have informed you of me Which means you know who I am so we can skip the introductions and right to my point." "What is your point, Divia? Why are you here?" "What? You mean to say Father didn't tell you why I was here in Toronto?" "No, he did tell me. I just want to know why." he said. He remembering the conversation with LaCroix about LaCroix's daughter, Divia, who had called the radio station earlier that night. She had said all who were close to him would be killed, until LaCroix was alone in the world like she had been for almost 2000 years. She had been LaCroix's daughter when they were both mortal. One night, when they lived in Pompeii in the year 79, she became deathly ill and an old one had brought her across. She then brought her father across and asked him to love her more than a father would love his daughter, but to love her as a lover would. He killed her and placed her in a tomb with the sun god as a sealer to keep her in the tomb for forever.(It acted on her as would the cross). That lasted for nearly 2000 years, until now when just a day or two ago, a grave robber had broken the seal and she came back to life, killed the grave robber, and set out for Toronto, to find LaCroix and have her revenge against him. "To have my revenge of what he did to me, of course. He will be all alone after I kill you, which you already knew. So let's get this over with, shall we? Ready?" She leapt onto him with all of her strength, which was so much Nick could't react or fight her off. She pushed him into the fire that was in the fireplace and his arm went ablaze. He quickly put it out and she tore into him even more. When she was done, she left Nick lying on the floor, in front of the fireplace, for the dead. He guessed that the person who 'given up' the blood was soft and sweet, too. "Hello, Divia." he said as he felt her presence enter the club. "Father, how nice of you to remember me." she snarled "Unfortunatly, I couldn't forget about you, no matter how how hard I tried, and believe me, I tried." he said with ice in his voice. "Well I have won, Father. You are alone." "Did you come here to gloat, Divia?" "No, I just thought I'd let you know of your situation. As I said, you're alone. I have suceeded in making you entirely alone. I killed the blonde dancer, she was too easy; the dark haired man was more fun, I made him go mad and he slowly died, too bad I missed that; and my favorate to kill was your son, I believe his name was Nicholas. He was your favorate child. Now they're dead and you're alone. I won. Have fun being alone, Father." she turned to leave and to her surprise, she bumped into a very alive Javier Vachon. He had been downstairs going through Urs's belongings to see if there was something that he could remember her by. He had found two pictures to his liking. The first picture was of Urs, Screed, Bourbon, and Javier when they were still on the run from the Inca. The other was of her smiling at the camera, her beautiful pale green-blue eyes sparkling. Vachon had just walked up the stairs and into the room to find Divia talking to LaCroix when she had bumped into him. "Wait a second! I killed you! I knew I should have stayed to make sure you died! Well, I'll just have to kill you after I take care of another matter." she said. She lifted him above her head and threw him across the room and he landed on one of the tables. "Now that he's out of the way, I'll be able to get rid of you with no problem or interference from him." she raised a small reaper for LaCroix to see, "Remember this, Father. I... killed you, too though." she gasped for air as she fell to the floor. "I guess you've lost your knack for killing vampires. 2000 years in a tomb can do that to a vampire, you know." Nick said, smirking at her. "Father?" she said, "Father! Don't let me die!" she said as LaCroix went to help her, but Nick stopped him. "NO!" Nick grabbed LaCroix's shoulders and held him back. "Father!" Divia cried. LaCroix stood there helpless as her watched his child of his mortal life and the master of his vampire life, go limp and die. "She's dead and now it's over." Nick concluded. LaCroix stood motionless and stared blankly at Divia's body. Nick walked over to Vachon, who was just coming to, and helped him up. "Wow, this just isn't my night!" Vachon exclaimed, "I better get out of here and get to the home before anything else happens to me." he looked up at a clock hanging on the wall,"There's about three hours until sunrise, so I can grab a quick snack before I do that though." Javier said to Nicholas. That's when he saw Divia, and LaCroix standing over her, "Is she dead?" "Yes. She is dead, Vachon." LaCroix said as if he was trying to accept the truth of his daughter's current state. "I have to leave now. LaCroix, I'm sorry." LaCroix nodded a thank you in return as Javier left to go get some type O, his favorate type, that would hold him over until the next sundown.
