I raise my eyes to look at you,

To ask if you feel as I do.

But your gaze is far away;

Lost in another time, I'd say.

I close my eyes and pray to see

The day when I'll no longer be

In sunlight

All alone.

 

I raise my hand to touch your hair;

Pull back before you see it there.

I dare not bare my heart to you,

I fear for what Lacroix might do.

I wonder, can you understand

My heart as I forever stand

In darkness

All alone?

 

I know not what tomorrow brings,

But for now, my heart, it sings-

For when my gaze falls to your face,
