Thanks to TPTB for their use. "How's That?" by S. Clark Natalie entered the loft. Nick, in a very human display of normal male behavior, was seated at the couch watching a hockey game on the TV. "How's the game, Nick?" she called from the kitchen. Nick, in another show of normal male behavior, grunted and waved to her, never turning his head. Natalie rolled her eyes and started spreading out the contents of her shopping bag on the table. Tired of never having any food around this place, she decided to bring over some groceries. Nat went and grabbed a plate, then started laying out the sandwich ingredients she'd brought. It'd been a long and busy day, so she wasn't really thinking about what she was doing. She just drifted into autopilot. Nick slowly became aware a sound drifting in from the kitchen. It was Natalie, humming. He fought the temptation to look and see what she was doing. But after a few moments he had to turn his head to watch. She was standing at the table, doing something food related. Her head bowed, concentration fully on her work. He doubted she even realized she was humming or what she was humming. Nick was amazed when she began singing aloud. Although Natalie would often relax around him, this was a new side of her, one he'd never seen before. But, there she was, standing at the table preparing a sandwich, and singing in a loud, clear voice. "My bologna has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R." Natalie put the top slice of bread on the sandwich. "My bologna has a second name it's M-A-Y-E-R." She pushed the fixings aside and grabbed the plate. "Oh I love to eat it everyday, and if you ask me why I'll say..." Nick winced as she hit, and then tried to sustain the note on 'say.' But it was so endearing he couldn't resist smiling. Natalie picked up the sandwich from the plate. "'Cuz Oscar Mayer has a way..." She took a bite, then continued singing, even though her mouth was full, "with B-O-L-O-G and..." Nat looked up, right into Nick's grinning face. Feeling self-conscious, she turned bright red and placed the sandwich back on the plate. "A," Nick said, ending the jingle for her. "How's that?"
