You told me I wouldn't understand
And I accepted that
And yet
I try to understand
And yet you deny me

So many times I seeked the solution
So many times it was within my reach
But your wall of coldness
And the wall of fire
Held it away from me

I sit here
Hurting
Breaking
Dying

I cry here
Wanting
Needing
Praying

For a solution
For a reason why you spurned me
But for all my intelligence
I lacked the wisdom

And I sat there
Hoping
Crying
As you drained the life from me

And you held me in your arms
And I finally understood
Why you loved me
Why you needed me

But it still hurts
That I love you.
But can't have you
And I'm where I started

Crying
Wanting
Needing
But not praying

Reaching your ears
But not your mind
Which is what I need

You think I'm teasing you
Taunting you
Hating you
But holding you

But that's not true
It's you, don't you see?
See that I need you
But no, you're blind

Too blind, I fear
To see the truth
To see how much I need you
How much I long for you

You think your soul is damned
You shun me in favor of the light
How foolish, child
Don't you see

You are the light in me
