I'm trying my hand at writing fan fiction. Heartfelt Nightsong calls to me, wind sloughing through the autumn trees Dead leaves rattle and dance in the cold empty streets Clouds above glow with silvery light, gibbous moon sails behind My heart is weary, my mind cries out, my shredded soul weeps So much death that has been wrought within my hands The years weigh upon me and my loneliness is like a cloak Endless, ageless, deathless. My guilt of countless sins lies within me. No longer one with my own kind, outcast and derided Caught up within a pulsing, living mortal world knowing it will fade As do all the lives of those around me who walk in the sun What penance will I pay to expiate my sins? Do I regain my soul? My humanity? Or am I doomed to love and lose those around for all eternity? Has no other ever felt the pull back from the dark abyss? What has caused this reversal of my nature? What flaw within me?
