Slightly shifting the thick blue cloak that was their only covering, he let his fingers graze her cheekbone, brushing aside a strand of her silken, straw-colored hair. Who could have know, who could have dreamed that his assignment to this distant place would be the beginnings of his happiness? He had been captivated from the first by the mists of this land, the mysteries and secrets that he could just make out, moving behind the spidery fog and the silvery grasses. Now, in the pure light of a Welsh morning, he held in his arms one of those same mysteries. Gwyneth was still asleep. Smiling, Nicolas carefully gathered her closer to his chest, wrapping the cloak more snuggly about them both. He alternated between watching the sunlight marble the water of the lake, and watching the soft shade play on the face of his love. Slowly, her eyelids opened, revealing eyes of a silvery-gray that always seemed to know something he did not. She smiled up at him, intensifying the impression. "What charms you so, my lady?" "You do, Nicol," Gwyneth replied, reaching up to stroke his forehead. "You, and the way your heart shines through you, come what may." Pleasantly confused, Nicolas bent and softly kissed her lips, and together, they watched the sun rise over the lake, turning its clear blue water to a burnished gold. ~Finis--March 26, 2004~ April French daomir_darkfell@yahoo.com ===== ~Knightwalker: Forever Knight Fan Fiction -- http://www.geocities.com/knightwalker1228/index.html ~The Corvina: Original Fiction, Poetry and Fan Fiction -- http://www.geocities.com/runeshard/index.html "The Devil and I had a chat this morning..." -- Charles Baudelaire __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
